A skin fade (also called a bald fade) is a modern haircut where the hair on the sides and back gradually tapers all the way down to the skin, blending cleanly into the longer length on top. The result is a sharp, high-contrast style that exposes the scalp at the base for a polished finish. Depending on preference, the fade can begin at different heights — low, mid, or high — with a low skin fade starting just above the ears for a more subtle, understated look.
